Sensei Dan Hunt achieved his 7th degree black belt in January of 2021.  He received his 6th dan in December of 2008 and has been training since 1974.  He has been teaching since 1979 where he taught fellow college students at Michigan Tech.  Sensei Hunt completed the Japanese Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA) of Michigan instructor’s training course in 1994 to become an Instructor and Technical Advisor to the JSKA.  He is also a senior member of the Independent Traditional Karate Organization (ITKO). He is currently the Chief Instructor of the JSKA Rochester LLC.  The JSKA is a continuing year round adult and youth program is offered through the Rochester Enrichment.  Sensei Hunt has competed in many tournaments nationally, achieving first place finishes in Sparring and forms, both team and individually.  His students also compete and are known to be strong competitors.  He also teaches seminars on Women’s awareness/self-defense and other karate topics.
